"I'm not just a lady wearing a hat." I like to try to represent people (especially women) as the complex, multi-layered people that we are. When I see the tiger in this portrait, I see the strengths, idiosyncrasies, dreams, loves that a person has that might not be visible on the surface. I want to acknowledge and nourish the depth of a person. The tiger makes the portrait more complete, more poetically true to me.
