INSPIRATION
Animal companionship is a recurring theme in my work, and when I embarked on this series of Horse Paintings in the Autumn of 2023, I was interested in creating my own highly painterly, colorful take on the traditional old-fashioned classic subject matter of horse portraits (complete with ornate gold frames) -- the kind you might see on tour of old homes -- but painted my way with impasto brushstrokes, bold color, and intuition with emphasis on freedom and playfulness.
